DocSpring's PDF tools in VS Code
Add DocSpring to VS Code with one click and sign in. The agent in VS Code's chat can then create templates from the PDFs in your workspace, generate types for their data, and make test PDFs to check the code it writes.
What you can do with VS Code
While it codes
- Templates from your PDFs
- Create a template from a PDF in your workspace and set up its fields.
- Types for your data
- Generate types for a template's data in your project's language, for code that calls the API.
- Test PDFs to check its work
- Validate data against a template and make free test PDFs, then look at the pages to see where the data landed.
- Template changes
- Rename or move fields, see what changed since the last version, and publish a new one.
You stay in control
- You choose the access
- When you sign in, choose whether VS Code can only read your templates and PDFs or also make changes.
- Shared with your team
- Add DocSpring to your workspace's settings so everyone on the project has it, each signing in with their own account.
- Disconnect at any time
- Each connected app is listed on the Integrations page in DocSpring, where anyone in the account can disconnect it.
Set up the VS Code integration
Read the setup guide- Click Add to VS Code in DocSpring's MCP setup guide, or run MCP Add Server from the Command Palette, choose HTTP and enter https://mcp.docspring.com/mcp (accounts in the EU use https://mcp-eu.docspring.com/mcp).
- Sign in to DocSpring when VS Code opens your browser, and choose what VS Code can do in your account.
- Ask the agent in VS Code's chat to work with your templates, or to write the code that fills one.
Example workflows
A new integration
Point the agent at a PDF form and ask for the template, typed models and the code that fills it from your data.
A template that matches your data
Ask it to compare your app's data with the template's fields and fix the names that don't match.
Test PDFs for every case
Have it make test PDFs from your fixtures to check long names, empty fields and every option.
Try DocSpring with VS Code
