What is a Word template?

A Word document (.docx) with tags in it, such as {{ customer.name }}. DocSpring fills in the tags with the JSON data you send and returns a filled Word document or a PDF.

Do I have to change how I write my documents?

No. Write the document in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice as you normally would, and type a tag wherever a value should go. Headings, tables, headers and footers, page numbers and pictures stay as they are. You can also start from a blank document and write it in DocSpring.

What can tags do?

Insert values, with filters that format dates, numbers and currencies. Show or hide text and whole sections with conditions, repeat paragraphs or table rows with loops, and insert images, signatures, barcodes and QR codes from your data.

Can I keep editing the document in Word?

Yes. Edit it in DocSpring, or edit it in Word and upload the new version in the template's settings. The template keeps its fields and settings, and adds a field for each new tag.

Does it work with LibreOffice?

Yes. Upload an OpenDocument text file (.odt) saved in LibreOffice, and DocSpring converts it to a Word document for the template. Each submission can make an OpenDocument file too, as well as a Word document or a PDF.

How much does a Word document cost?

A submission uses 20 credits, however many pages it has and whichever files it makes: a Word document, an OpenDocument file, a PDF or more than one. Very large files and long processing count as extra units. Test documents are free and watermarked.
