Credit Packs & Auto Top-ups

If you need more credits than your plan’s monthly allowance, you can buy one-time credit packs or enable automatic top-ups. Both are available on every plan (including the free Developer plan) from the Billing page.

Credit packs

Credit packs are one-time purchases charged to your saved payment method:

Larger packs have a lower price per credit. The pricing page shows each pack’s price and what each kind of PDF costs with it. Pack credits expire after 12 months and are spent alongside your plan credits (oldest expiry first). Every purchase gets a PDF invoice and email receipt.

Automatic top-ups

Auto top-up buys a credit pack when your balance runs low. It helps avoid pauses, but generation can still wait for payment, card verification, or your spending cap to reset. You configure:

• Threshold: top up when the balance falls below this many credits.
• Pack size: which credit pack to purchase.
• Monthly cap (optional): a spending limit; top-ups stop for the month when another pack would exceed the cap. Pending purchases reserve their cost against the cap, and payments count in the calendar month they’re paid, which starts at midnight on the 1st in your account’s time zone (set in Account Settings).

Turn it on from Automatic top-up on the Billing page, or when you first subscribe to a paid plan: tick Top up automatically when my credits run low in the plan dialog. It’s off unless you tick it, and the suggested monthly cap can be changed or cleared.

Top-ups trigger proactively as credits are consumed, before you hit zero. If a large job does empty your balance, the paused job also triggers a top-up and resumes automatically once enough credits are available. An outstanding purchase is recovered using the same invoice rather than creating another charge.

Payment failures

If payment is declined or needs verification, open the outstanding invoice from the alert at the top of the Billing page (or its Invoices tab) to complete payment. Automatic top-up waits for that purchase to resolve before buying another pack; it does not automatically retry charging an open invoice, even after you save a new card. Complete that invoice manually; automatic purchases resume after it is paid or voided.

Temporary errors while preparing or checking a purchase are retried every 10 minutes. After three consecutive recovery failures, these checks pause for 12 hours. Declined payments and invoices requiring verification wait for your action instead of being polled repeatedly. Purchases marked uncollectible or needing support review must be resolved before automatic purchasing can resume. Your account itself is not suspended.

We email your billing email address when these recovery checks pause or a purchase needs support review. The notice explains the current state and what to do next; a recovery error does not necessarily mean your card was declined. If you need credits before the issue is resolved, contact support so we can check the existing purchase before you start another one.

Unfinished manual purchases

An unfinished manual purchase is reused when you review the same pack again. Complete its invoice before choosing another pack; contact support if it should be cancelled. Changing your saved card does not retry an already-attempted payment. After the credits are added, you can purchase another pack.
